Someone comes over to you, they share their appreciation for something you’ve done recently. That is after another person earlier in the day said how good you are at a particular task. Later that week an individual comes up to you and says how much they notice your presence changes the atmosphere in the room. Sincerely, the sweet words these folks share come from a genuine heart of encouragement, they are grateful and desire to share that with you. What a blessing, you don’t want to cast those words aside, you need to soak in them. But you’ve also experienced some ‘sweet words’ that have come from the mouth of a ‘smooth talker’ that were darker in their motive. They desire you to put down your defenses, become vulnerable to their influence and eventually even manipulation by their control. God’s word provides some insight into smooth talkers.
